I’m Tom - a solutions architect from the UK and working in the technology industry. For work, I specialise in secure digital transformation. At home, I enjoy free and open source software, Linux, computers and tinkering.

Below are some projects I am actively working on.

❄️ megadots

My NixOS configuration, and the fourth rewrite of it. It runs both of my machines - a desktop and a Surface Pro - and handles the disks, the boot chain, the secrets, the desktop, the theme and the applications from a single Git repo. It’s built on the den framework, and standing up a new machine is one command. I publish it because other people’s repos are how I learned NixOS, so this is me returning the favour.

🎨 austere

The Hugo theme that powers this website. I wrote it because I wanted something simple and minimal that put the writing first - serif type, a light and dark palette, and no web fonts or anything else pulled in from a CDN. A page makes no external requests at all. I maintain it over at GitHub, and it’s MIT licensed if you’d like to use it yourself.
